Mech Local in Iraq Thu. Oct 9, 2008
The last couple months of this deployment I was assigned to work on a NIPTT team, which stands for National Iraqi Police Training and Transition team. It's one of the key efforts in handing back over the security to the Iraqi people. Some girl scouts from Mechanicsville sent a ton of cookies and soccer balls, and I shared some. I've been deployed since the end of October 2006, and am schedule to return to the States the first week of December.

Mech Local in Aruba Thu. Oct 9, 2008
Kurt & Jenny Shaffer took a break from the hustle and bustle of running the Texas Roadhouse to celebrate their 8th wedding anniversary on the beautiful island of Aruba! They are pictured here holding their favorite hometown newspaper the Mechanicsville Local, the local Aruban Daily and their beautiful daughter Jacelyn. After seven days of relentless 90 degree weather, they are happy to be home sweet home in Mechanicsville!
